What NeoForge is
NeoForge is a mod loader for Minecraft Java Edition. It started in 2023 as a fork of Forge, made by most of the people who worked on Forge. Mods for NeoForge and Forge looked alike at first; since 1.20.2 they are separate, and a NeoForge mod does not load on Forge.

Install a NeoForge modpack
- Order a NeoForge server; 8 GB for a light pack, 12 GB or more for a large one.
- Open the Mods tab and choose CurseForge and FTB packs.
- Search the pack and pick the version your players use.
- Click Install this pack and start the server.
- Wait for

RAM for a NeoForge server
Large NeoForge packs on 1.21.1 load many mods with big worlds, so count about 6 GB for the server and 1 GB per player.

Java version for NeoForge
NeoForge on Minecraft 1.20.5 to 1.21.11 needs Java 21, and on 26.1 and newer Java 25. The panel sets the Java version that follows the Minecraft version you choose. When a pack asks for another Java version, change it under Settings; Java version for Minecraft lists which version fits which release.

Questions about NeoForge server hosting
Do Forge mods work on a NeoForge server?
Only mods for 1.20.1, where NeoForge could still load many Forge mods. From 1.20.2 on, a mod has to be made for NeoForge. Check the files on the mod page.
Can my players use the CurseForge app to join?
Yes. They install the same pack version in the CurseForge app and add the server address under Multiplayer.
Can I move a NeoForge world from another host?
Yes. Upload the world folder and the config folder in the Files tab, on the same pack version. Move your world to our server has the steps.
Why does my NeoForge server take long to start?
A large pack loads hundreds of mods and their configs on the first start, which can take several minutes. Later starts are faster.
