Purpur compared with Paper
Purpur starts from Paper and keeps all of its performance work. It adds settings that Paper leaves out, so a server owner changes gameplay without a plugin.

If you have no need for the extra settings, Paper is the simpler choice. Both are free on every plan.
Purpur settings that server owners change most
Open the Files tab and edit purpur.yml in the server folder. Restart the server after a change.
- Rideable mobs: let players ride and steer mobs such as dolphins, phantoms and iron golems
- Silk touch spawners: mine a spawner with a silk touch pickaxe and place it somewhere else
- Phantoms: stop phantoms from spawning, or only for players who used a bed
- Villagers: limit lobotomized villagers and trading behaviour for trading halls
- Mob attributes: set the health and attack damage of each mob type

RAM for a Purpur server
Purpur uses the same memory as Paper: about 2 GB for the server, then 1 GB for every 3 players with 20 or more plugins.

Move an existing server to Purpur
