Minecraft versions on a Java server

Server address and port

Every Java server gets a free address under mc.cheapestminecrafthosting.com, and you choose the first part when you order. Java players add it under Multiplayer, Add Server; the port is 25565, so they do not type it.

  1. Start Minecraft Java Edition on the version of the server.
  2. Click Multiplayer, then Add Server.
  3. Type the server address from the panel and click Done.
  4. Select the server and click Join Server.

Questions about Minecraft Java server hosting

What is the difference between a Java and a Bedrock server?

Java servers are for Minecraft Java Edition on a computer and run plugins and mods. Bedrock is for phones, consoles and Windows Bedrock. A crossplay server lets both into one world; see Java or Bedrock server.

Can I change the server software after ordering?

Yes, under Settings. The world stays. Plugins only run on Paper and Purpur, mods only on the loader they were made for.

Do I need to install Java myself?

No. The server runs on our machine with the Java version that fits the Minecraft version. Your players only need the game.

Is there a player limit on a Java server?

No fixed limit. The RAM decides how many players fit; set max-players in server.properties to the number you want.
